The Impact of Creativity: Lalo Saavedra
Lalo Saavedra believes that creativity is essential to living. Growing up in a low-income community, music helped veer him away from joining a gang. He started going to DCM Studio at MACLA in San Jose, California and found mentor in Ivan Martinez. Lalo found his calling, producing two music videos “Keep Pushing” and “Angle in my Sky” that received a Gold Prize at the 2012 AYV Awards. After graduating from high school, he was asked to join MACLA and become a mentor himself. Giving back what was given to him, he helps youth find a way to expressive themselves through music. “Create with Purpose” is the mantra: “If something is made, it it needs to mean something.”
