Podcast 101 with the B&H Photography Podcast Team

The B&H Photography Podcast first recorded in a cramped conference room in October, 2015 with the goal of presenting the type of photography conversations that happen “around the water cooler” at B&H. It has morphed in shape and scope to become one of the most popular photography podcasts on iTunes and is a pleasure to produce and record. We have had many “watercooler” types of episodes in which we talk cameras, but we have also been fortunate to converse with photographers and photo professionals of all stripes. We have interviewed Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalists and editors, NYPD crime-scene unit photographers and Hubble Telescope imaging engineers, for example. Our topics are as diverse as photography and we enjoy all of our conversations, whether in-studio or via Skype.

Today’s talk is geared toward people who want to produce their own podcasts and with that in mind we will focus on what we have learned in our time producing the B&H Photography Podcast, from the gear we use, to the audio techniques and software, to the back-end platforms we use to distribute the show.

We also talk about how we have honed our format, book guests for the show and prepare our scripts. Whether you are just starting out or are already involved in producing a podcast, this discussion will provide tips and insights. Join Senior Producer and Director John Harris, Co-Producer and Engineer Jason Tables and host Allan Weitz for this informative and enjoyable discussion.
