Microphone shootout Se X1, Se 2200aIIc, Audio Technica AT4040
Se X1 is from 1 second to 50 seconds
Se 2200a IIc is from 51 seconds to 1:44
Audio Technica AT 4040 begins at 1:45
Se X1 sounds a hair tinny, and a bit high, a hair colored and unnatural, and is the MOST sensitive by far.
Se 2200a IIc gave me a deep voice, and contrary to reports Ive read makes a perfect male vocal (at least to me anyway), while the mic is a bit colored, would be perfect for a male vocal looking for a deeper voice
Se 2200a IIc also had the MOST noise / hiss
Se 2200a IIc is certainly the LEAST sensitive contrary to its factory specs saying its almost identical to the Se X1 mic.
Id say the Se2200a IIc, contrary to the reports at recordinghacks.com is by far a superior podcasting mic than the SeX1 is which is a bit high, tinny, and too much stress on S and Ps
Audio technica AT4040 sounded the most true to life
AT4040 had the LEAST internal noise, and was mid-ground on the deep 'perfect' between the 2200 and the Se X1
I love the way the Se 2200a IIc sounds, but the AT4040 is more genuine, and almost as sensitive as the Se X1
AT4040 is $300
Se X1 is $200
Se 2200a IIc is $250 but includes a super nice all metal beefy shock mount the SeX1 doesnt have.
