How to Record a Podcast | Mics, Effects & Sound (Audio 101: Part 17)

In this episode of Audio 101, I will cover common practices for recording podcast voiceover using three different microphones: A condenser mic (AT4033), a dynamic mic (Shure SM58) and a headset/USB microphone (Plantronics).

You'll get to hear the differences in sound, and understand how different mic types will accentuate different elements of your voice. I will then cover how to apply EQ to carefully 'bring out the best' in your voice.

Proximity effects, midrange unpleasantness, room tone, using compression, removing plosives, clipped samples, loudness & loudness matching; all of these elements are discussed and at the end you'll get to hear the final results, processed, of the three various podcast mic types and learn how to adjust their loudness and add metadata for standard Podcast uploads.
