After receiving some comments on my podcast N°41, I discovered the use of stack modes, a faster way to erase tourist in an auto fashion. The steps are:
1. Take a scene where there is tourist, (that should not be hard to find) if possible on a tripod take at least 5 photos, with the same exposure in manual mode, enough photos so that every spots are empty on at least one shot.
2. Retouch the first photo and synch that retouch on the rest, best using Lightroom.
3. Open as layers in Photoshop, so that all the photos are into one Photoshop file.
4. Select all layers and right click and choose create smart object.
5. Go to layers - smart objects - Stack Mode - Median.
This should take most of them out and then you can use the clone and healing brush for what has been missed, check out the rest of the technic on that episode :

To simulate long exposure without an ND filter or a tripod do the same step then above and at step 5 select Mean instead of Median and voila!
