From Tri-X to Compact Flash and Beyond
There was a time when Tri-X was the all-purpose medium. In the hands of the professional it was magic. However today, with the technology, Mel DiGiacomo can take Tri-X’s limitation of 1600 ISO to an astronomical 25,800 with his Canon 5D Mark III, and store it safely in his Lexar briefcase, as it waits to be delivered to his computer ‘darkroom’. As Mel’s friend Billie Jean King would say, ’You’ve come a long way baby!’
Through a series of his images, Mel, a long-time photo journalist and iconic street photographer, discusses how to put aside the technical aspects of the medium, and keep thinking to a minimum, to keep your shooting instinctual. Whether you are shooting people, places or things, Mel gets you thinking in different ways to help stretch your photography muscles.
