Time and time again I see photographers capturing fantastic images with entry level consumer cameras because of a few things.
First, the photographer understands the exposure triangle, composition and post processing. Second, there is no way around Glass, Glass, Glass, Glass, Glass. Putting a nice piece of glass in front of any sensor in combination with the photographers skill can yield far better results.
This is evident in this photographers set. The images are fantastic, the processing is not bad at all either. There will always be those people who call me a gear snob and pusher of expensive tools but those are the people who have never touched good glass.
Anyone who has put a 2.8 or better lens in front of their camera will tell you how much it has changed the way they shoot. Not just because of focus speed and build quality but simply because of how much light the lens lets in. You should see someones face when you put a 2.8 on their camera and they say how bright the viewfinder now is.
I can not stress this enough, the most important thing in photography is knowing your exposure triangle and understand composition and post processing. I can teach you all day the technical side but if you can get a good handle on it yourself, you will be off to the races.
